Residential Waste Service FAQs


  • What cities do you provide residential waste and recycling services to?

    We serve homeowners in Anoka County, Sherburne County, and other parts of east central Minnesota. View our residential service area  for a full list of communities we serve.

  • How often do you bill?

    Your bill is due every two months.

  • What is the Extra Tip Charge?

    If your cart is overflowing to the point you cannot close the lid or if you have extra bags next to your cart, you may be assigned an Extra Tip Charge for that pickup.

  • What can I recycle?

    View a list of accepted items for recycling here  or visit our recycling center’s website for more information on what types of items you can recycle.

  • How often do you pick up recycling?

    We pick up residential recycling every other week.

  • Which recycling week am I?

    Download our recycling schedule to see which weeks we will pick up your recycling.

  • Can I pay my bill over the phone? Is there a fee to do so?

    Yes, you can pay your bill over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard. No fee applies.

  • Can I pay my bill online?

    Yes, online payments, including auto-pay and eBilling, are available on our online portal.

  • What color carts are available?

    Standard carts are available in red or gray. Pink carts are available for customers who wish to support the The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer.

  • Do the pink carts cost extra?

    There is no extra cost for service, but there is a $30, tax-deductible, annual donation that goes to the The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer.

  • How should I place my carts during a snowstorm?

    Please place your carts on a flat surface in your driveway, behind the curb line. Do not place them on top of snowbanks or in the street, as this interferes with snowplows and increases the risk of the cart being tipped over.

  • What if my cart is frozen shut or the waste is frozen inside?

    During extreme cold, waste can freeze to the bottom of the cart. To ensure a clean dump, we recommend placing a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bin or using a broom handle to gently loosen the contents before your morning pickup.

  • Can I dispose of hazardous waste like paint or oil?

    No, hazardous materials cannot be placed in residential carts. But you can bring them to local county drop-off facilities. Find a facility near you in Anoka County, Sherburne County, or Chisago County.

  • How do I dispose of sharps (needles)?

    We recommend bringing sharps to a community disposal site, such as the Anoka County Hazardous Waste Facility. But you can also place them in your residential trash cart if they are in a closed and taped puncture-resistant container (like a laundry detergent bottle) and clearly labeled “SHARPS.”

  • Do you offer curbside appliance pickup?

    Yes! We can pick up refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other large items for a separate fee. Please contact us in advance to schedule a special bulk waste pickup.

  • What happens if my pickup falls on a holiday?

    We observe New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If your day falls on or after the holiday, your service will be delayed by exactly one day for that week.

  • I missed the truck this morning; can you come back?

    If your carts weren't out by 6:00 a.m., we may be able to come back and pick them up for a small fee. Please call us at 763-757-7100 to learn more. Alternatively, we can pick up extra bags for a fee on your next regularly scheduled day.

  • Can I change my cart size after I sign up?

    Absolutely. If you find your 64-gallon bin is too small or your 96-gallon is too big, contact us to swap it out.

  • Do I need to bag my recycling?

    No. Please place recyclables loose in the bin. Plastic bags get tangled in sorting machinery and are actually the #1 cause of recycling contamination.

  • Can I recycle shredded paper?

    No, shredded paper is too small for standard sorting. Please place it in a paper bag, staple it shut, and place it in your trash cart, or bring it to a local drop-off location for specialized recycling.


Commercial Waste Service FAQs


  • What sizes do you offer?

    We offer 96-gallon, 2-yard, 4-yard, 6-yard, and 8-yard containers for both trash and recycling.

  • Can you bring a container out for just a week or two?

    We don’t currently offer that. Our commercial services come with a service agreement.

  • How much will commercial waste and recycling services cost?

    Pricing for our commercial waste and recycling services depend on the size of your container, frequency of pickups, materials being collected, and other factors. Please call our office at 763.757.7100 for exact prices.

  • Do you have a service agreement?

    Yes, we have a 36-month service agreement contract.

  • What color containers are available?

    Most of our waste and recycling containers are gray.

  • Do you have locking dumpsters?

    Yes, we offer locking commercial dumpsters to keep your confidential waste secure.

  • What cities do you provide commercial waste and recycling services to?

  • Can we get an extra pickup before or after our regular pickup?

    Yes! Please call our office in advance at 763.757.7100 to schedule an extra pickup. There will be an additional fee.

  • Can we put demo or building materials in our commercial waste container?

    Yes, you can put a moderate amount of building materials in your container, but please do not exceed your container’s weight limit. If the dumpster is too heavy, it may not be collected.

  • Can we put furniture in our commercial waste container?

    Yes, but there will be an additional fee.

  • How much space do I need for a commercial dumpster?

    Placement is key for safety and accessibility. We recommend a concrete pad that is at least 10 feet wide and 10 feet deep. You also need to ensure there is at least 25 feet of overhead clearance to allow our front-load trucks to lift and empty the container safely.

  • Do you offer locking dumpsters?

    Yes. To prevent unauthorized dumping and protect your confidential waste, we provide containers equipped with locking bars. This helps keep your costs predictable and your enclosure clean.

  • What happens if a vehicle is blocking my dumpster on service day?

    Our drivers will make every effort to safely access the dumpster. However, if the container is blocked, we may have to skip the pickup to avoid property damage. We can often schedule a new pickup for a small fee once the path is cleared.

  • Do you provide waste audits for local businesses?

    Absolutely. We can analyze your current waste stream to see if you are over-paying for a bin size you don't fill, or if adding a dedicated recycling program could lower your overall disposal tax and monthly bill.

  • Can I manage multiple properties under one account?

    Yes. We specialize in working with property management firms in the north metro. We can provide consolidated billing or individual site invoicing depending on your accounting needs.

  • Are there specific items my business is prohibited from throwing away?

    Per Minnesota state law and MPCA regulations, businesses cannot dispose of hazardous waste, electronics (E-waste), or tires in general waste bins. We do however, accept certain specialized waste items at our Bethel Transfer Station. Call us at 763-757-7100 to learn more.

  • Is my business required by law to recycle?

    In many parts of the Twin Cities metro, businesses that produce a certain volume of waste are required to recycle. We can help you stay compliant with local ordinances by providing single-sort commercial recycling containers.

  • What sizes of commercial containers do you offer?

    We offer a range of front-load containers, including:

    • 2-Yard: Great for small offices or boutiques.
    • 4-Yard: Ideal for small restaurants or mid-sized offices.
    • 6-Yard: Perfect for retail centers and apartment complexes.
    • 8-Yard: Best for high-volume grocery stores or warehouses.

  • My dumpster is smelling or leaking; can I get a replacement?

    We take pride in the appearance of our equipment. If your bin is damaged or has a faulty plug causing leaks, call us at 763-757-7100. We provide routine container maintenance and can swap out old bins to ensure your business's curb appeal remains high.

  • Do you offer on-call pickups for seasonal businesses?

    Yes. While most businesses prefer a set weekly schedule, we offer flexible on-call services for businesses with fluctuating needs, such as seasonal greenhouses or construction-related shops.


Roll-Off Rental FAQs


  • How much does it cost to rent a roll-off dumpster?

    Pricing depends on your location, dumpster size, and length of rental period. Please call or text us at 763.757.7100 or fill out our no-obligation sign-up form for a quote.

  • Do I need a permit to place a dumpster?

    It depends on your location and placement:

    On private property (like your driveway), a permit is usually not required.

    On public streets or sidewalks, you may need a permit, depending on local regulations. It’s best to check with your municipality.

  • When will the dumpster be delivered and picked up? And do I need to be present?

    Delivery and pickup generally occur during regular business hours, but you can call or text us at 763.757.7100 to schedule a time. If you can’t be present during delivery, we can discuss placement instructions ahead of time—just ensure the area is clear of any obstructions.

  • What are the dimensions of each dumpster size?
    • 10 yd: 6ft wide x 16ft long x 3.5ft high
    • 15 yd: 6ft wide x 16ft long x 4.5ft high
    • 20 yd: 8ft wide x 20ft long x 4.5ft high
    • 30 yd: 8ft wide x 20ft long x 6.5ft high
    • 40 yd: 8ft wide x 22ft long x 9ft high

    Note: these are typical measurements, but each unit can vary depending on the manufacturer. 

  • How long can I have the dumpster for?

    The first week of rental is included in the initial price. Additional weeks are $85 per week.

  • How long will it take to deliver my dumpster?

    We will deliver your roll-off dumpster in 1–2 business days.

  • What can I put in my roll-off dumpster?
    • Household trash and construction debris are allowed.
    • Whole furniture pieces, mattresses, box springs, electronics, appliances, and tires are allowed but will incur an extra $75 fee per item.
    • No hazardous materials, such as paint, chemicals, or asbestos, are allowed.
    • Yard Waste Accepted, but cannot be mixed with Trash or Construction Debris

Transfer Station FAQs


  • Can I bring cardboard to your transfer station?

    Yes!

  • Do you accept batteries?

    We accept lead-acid batteries (car batteries, etc.), but we do not accept alkaline batteries.

  • Are you open on Saturdays?

    We are not open on weekends.

    Monday–Friday • 7:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • What are the per yard costs to drop off trash and demolition debris?

    Household trash costs $60 for up to 3 yards plus $30 for each additional yard. This price does not include big and bulky items such as mattresses, couches, and appliances.


    Demolition debris costs $60 for up to 3 yards plus $20 for each additional yard.

  • Do I need to make an appointment?

    No appointments are necessary during normal business hours. Please come to the office and our customer service team will assist you.

  • Do you pay out for cans or steel?

    No, we do not pay for cans or steel. We will dispose of it for no charge, however.
